Wedding Favours
Favours are a popular way to say thank you to your guests for supporting you and helping to make your wedding day special. Sadly, all too often, these little tokens get left on the table to be thrown away. Wedding planners will often advise couples to shave their costs and ditch the favours for exactly this reason. If you’re going to spend the money, make your favours practical gifts that your guests can use later or edible ones.
The traditional edible wedding favour is sugared, or Jordan, almonds. It’s a tradition that started in Italy where they are handed out to guests wrapped in tulle - five almonds for five wishes for the happy couple. The bitterness of the almonds combined with the sweet sugar coating represents the ups and downs of life. A nice idea but, they maybe the one edible favour that gets wasted as a lot of people don’t like them or won’t eat them for fear of damaging their teeth on the hard coating. The last thing you want is Granny breaking her dentures! Chocolate is a no brainer. Your guests can enjoy it at the reception or later and, even if they don’t like chocolate themselves, they’re bound to know someone who does!
